“Metal AM Design Rules, what every mechanical design engineer should know!” – Presented by Thomas Bossuyt, Metal Technics 3D

A metal 3D printer is just like a CNC milling machine – a tool that executes what it is instructed to do. Thus, the only step in the process affecting the quality of the final printed product is the design and the engineering. Therefore it is extremely important to understand and respect the technologies limitations while making a design. The presentation will highlight the design rules for metal AM and more important, the reason behind it. This is the only way to fully understand and utilize the different design rules in the right way.

About Thomas Bossuyt

Thomas Bossuyt, initially gained metal 3D printing experience through research work at the Catholic University of Leuven. Thomas joined the innovative metal 3D printing company LayerWise in 2012. Following the acquisition of LayerWise by 3D Systems, Thomas was transferred to Atlanta to establishing 3D Systems’ presence in metal 3D printing in North America. Thomas currently works full-time for MT3D.

About Metal Technics 3D

MT3D is a consultancy, engineering and production company for metal additive manufacturing. We help companies to understand the benefit of adopting metal 3D printing. We help our clients to redesign their parts or applications to reach the highest quality possible. Once the 3D optimisation process is complete, MT3D coordinates the production process from the first prototype up to manufacturing.
