Get it right, from the start – Presented by Orlando Sardaro, Design8

Get it right, from the start – Presented by Orlando Sardaro, Design8, at the 3D Printing Design & Engineering Conference, on April 17, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Geleen, The Netherlands. Read the interview

Do you start your design with a pencil on a piece of paper… ? Do you start your design in 2D or 3D on a computer screen… ? Are you the appropriate one to start the design process at all… ? Instead of analysing whether you’ve done a good job, let’s analyse first and make sure you get it right, from the start. Brightlands Chemelot Campus is Hosting Partner of 3D Printing Design & Engineering Conference

Brightlands Chemelot Campus is Hosting Partner of 3D Printing Design & Engineering Conference, which will take place on April 17, 2018.

About Brightlands Chemelot Campus
Smart and Sustainable

Brightlands Chemelot Campus is one of the eight National Science and Innovation Parks in The Netherlands. Since 2012, the campus development is executed by a consortium of three parties: Royal DSM, the Province of Limburg and Maastricht University. In Sittard-Geleen advanced educational institutes and research institutes have been set up. Existing and new companies have developed, expanded or moved their activities to the campus. The Brightlands Innovation Factory was set up to stimulate entrepreneurship at Brightlands.
To accommodate these organizations, state-of-the-art facilities were realized, including laboratories, cleanrooms, conference centers, startup facilities as well as pilot plants. At the start of 2017, the number of people at the campus was 2500. The objective is to grow to almost 3900 community members in 2023. 3D Virtual Reality to democratise design and production – Orlando Sardaro, Design8

3D Virtual Reality to democratise design and production – Orlando Sardaro, Design8

Orlando Sardaro is the General Manager of Design8. He studied Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Technology in Delft, in the field of Innovation Management. For almost 20 years now he is actively selling and supporting 3D software to designers of all kind. He recognises that 3D printing requires different skills from both design software and designers. Today, besides being managing director of Design8 Orlando Sardaro is solidThinking distributor for the Benelux Region bringing freedom of form and generative design to designers and makers. He will speak about 3D Design at the 3D Printing Design & Engineering Conference, on April 17, 2018, in The Netherlands.

Meet SiSpis, a new army of robot spiders equipped with artificial intelligence and 3D printing nozzles

The next step in 3D printing could be something called mobile manufacturing. Siemens researchers in Princeton, New Jersey have developed prototype spider-like robots that can work collaboratively to print structures and surfaces, thus potentially accelerating production of large-scale, complex structures such as the fuselages of planes and the hulls of ships. “‘Start with the end in mind’ – Design for Supply Chain – an integral approach to develop smart products” – Presented by Marc Schrijvers, Philips Industry Consulting

Freedom of design is perhaps the most important benefit of 3D printing or additive manufacturing. Where traditional supply chains evolve to supply networks the link between initial design and final supply gets more complex. Design for Supply Chain offers a solution to unlock the full potential of additive manufacturing. This structured step-by-step methodology addresses supply chain aspects in the early stage of design. It is a proven tool enabling effective decision making and maximizing smart customization opportunities.
