The First 3D Printed Hollow-Body Electric Guitar from Olaf Diegel

Semi-acoustic or hollow-body guitars are known for their clean, warm tones – the sorts of tones you hear from old jazz songs maybe fast-picking country players. 3D printing’s own personal guitar hero, Olaf Diegel, has brought this classic sound into the 21st Century by designing the first 3D printed semi-acoustic guitar, titled The American Graffiti. Yes, that 3D-printed mansion is safe to live in

Back in April, a team of Chinese construction workers used a 3D printer to construct houses. By day’s end, there were 10 standing. They were compact and fairly bare bones — nothing much to look at besides the “wow!” factor of there being as many as 10. But this time around, those same builders have taken the wraps off an achievement that’s roundly more impressive. Continue reading “Yes, that 3D-printed mansion is safe to live in”

Joliet West High School engineering graphics students create three-dimensional race cars with 3D printers

Joliet Township High School engineering graphics students receive hands-on industry experience through state-of-the-art 3D printers. Most recently, the students in Dave Popek’s class used the 3D printer to create a model rubber band race car with a unique challenge, to use a limited amount of material.  Continue reading “Joliet West High School engineering graphics students create three-dimensional race cars with 3D printers”

3D Printed ‘Cool Bricks’ Can Cool an Entire Room Using Water

Using 3D printing technology, Emerging Objects has come up with a solution which may be able to greatly reduce the use of air conditioning systems in these hot dry climates. The device, which is called the “Cool Brick” has the ability to cool off an entire room simply by using the most abundant compound found on Earth — water. Are PLM Software Vendors Diversifying?

Human hearts, 3D printers, gold mines, and traffic management are not necessarily the things you would expect out of PLM software vendors, but these are all related to the evolving strategies of these companies. None of those topics may be related to your day-to-day work, but understanding how the major PLM software companies are diversifying could help you make better decisions about aligning with specific PLM vendors. Senvol Database, the Searchable 3D Printing Database for Industrial Additive Manufacturing Machines and Materials

Additive manufacturing machines and materials all in one place. Given the rapid growth of the industrial additive manufacturing (i.e. 3D printing) industry, it has become increasingly difficult to keep track of all of the machines and materials that are on the market. Senvol has solved this problem with the launch of the Senvol Database.
